Investing in God’s Word produces an eternal return.
The Bible says: “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11) God’s Word is so powerful that it affects growth in us even when we can’t see it. But this requires wehave a soft heart. Not much grows in concrete. When we are born again, His Spirit lives in our heart; and when we read His Word and seek to be close to Him, He transforms us. He molds our character and produces His love, wisdom, strength and all the fruits of the Spirit within us.
When God transforms us by His Word, we become progenitors of His eternal purpose. When God’s Word takes root in our heart, living for the unseen becomes more important than what we see because our eyes become spiritual. Paul wrote, “as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18) What do your eyes see?
The more we seek God, the more our eyes are opened and we long to invest God’s way. We learn to plant eternal seeds where we spend the majority of our time—like work, home or school. Sometimes we’ll plant a seed without saying a single word. Other times, we’ll plant seeds by sharing our testimony of what God has done in our life. No seed is wasted when the planting is directed by God. Right now, you're reading the seeds God planted in me. If your heart is ready, God will multiply the investment of your time and resources beyond your wildest imagination! Wise investing begins in our heart.
